About this artwork
A weathered red wooden door in the historic Pietermaai district of Curaçao, which almost resembles an abstract work of art. The slanted wooden planks that converge in the centre create a beautiful interplay of graphic lines, with the small padlock serving as a subtle focal point. The sun-faded and peeling red paint and the chipped piece of wood in the bottom left give the image a raw, weathered look. The distinctive details and textures make this photograph fascinating to look at and lend the whole scene a subtle, non-touristy nod to the Caribbean island.
Atmosphere in the interior
The warm, earthy shades of red and brown instantly bring atmosphere and depth to a room. This piece really comes into its own, particularly on a light-coloured wall or in an interior with a concrete-look finish. It also fits well with an industrial, bohemian, vintage or eclectic interior.
The distinctive interplay of lines and the weathered details make it a real eye-catcher. Ideal for a coffee corner, the loo, a dining area, a canopy or a rugged office, for example.
Material suggestions
The graphic character of this door is perhaps best showcased on aluminium Dibond. The material has a sleek, matt finish and really brings out the details and texture of the weathered wood.
Are you looking for a warmer, softer look without any glare? Then canvas or an ArtFrame complement the weathered paint texture beautifully.
For a classic gallery look, you could opt for a framed photo print.
Or go for acrylic glass if you’re looking for a luxurious high-gloss finish with extra depth.
